A Generations Group can consist of any age group; kids, teens, college age, young professionals, or 18-35. It can also be a mix of different ages. In this case, you’ll need to be sensitive to the relevancy of varying interests and the appropriateness of certain topics of discussion when you have combined ages involved.
The groups should start with one leader, plus one or two co-leaders, and one advisor who is a male pastor or a Christian layman.
The leader and co-leaders should be or become an Aglow Covenant Partner.
An Aglow Covenant Partner is a woman, man, or teen whose heart has been touched with the vision, plans, and purposes on God’s heart that are to be accomplished by Aglow International. Covenant Partnership represents a deliberate response to acknowledge the call God has placed on your life to be a part of the work of Aglow. A Covenant Partner is one who not only prays for the ministry of Aglow, but is one who gives a financial gift to the Worldwide Headquarters monthly, quarterly, or yearly.
If you are outside the U.S., you should contact your National Leader or Aglow Headquarters about Aglow membership.
Group Meeting Structure
Weekly, biweekly, or monthly meetings can be held to fulfill the general objectives of the Generations Groups.
Be creative! Some examples of Generations Groups are:
Home/Cell Group
Professional/workplace group
Prayer Group
Bible Study
Outreach to the community
College Campuses
International Students
Social Issues
These meetings can take place in a variety of places, based upon the goal of your group. For example; if your stated goal is “We would like to reach College Students,” the best place in that case would be to meet on campus somewhere, in a dorm, etc.
These meetings are not a church service, and we want people to be introduced to Christ through friendship, and for young people to have solid relationships with other Christians. Teaching or an evangelistic bible study are options, of course, but be discerning, realizing that there are many different ways to reach people that are effective.
Be creative! The meetings can have a variety of activities, some ideas are to:
Go to a movie and discuss the issues in it.
Hold evangelistic Bible studies at your school.
Open discussion on controversial issues, or issues that affect every day life.
Conduct Social and Community service work.
Conduct activities inspired by the leadership and group.
