Guidelines for starting an Aglow Generations Group

When there is interest to start this ministry in your community; please communicate with a local lighthouse, area team, regional or national leader who you have a relationship with.  If you do not have relationships with any leader in Aglow, send your completed forms to This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it and she will put you in contact with a leader in your area, region, or nation.  If you have any questions, please also feel free to contact her.

To begin, meet with other young people interested in this ministry to pray together, seeking the will and timing of God.  This group should seek the Lord to know His plan and His vision for reaching the young people in your community and how He wants to meet their various needs.  “Where there is no vision, the people perish.” (Prov. 29:18)

  • Choose two or three women to serve as leaders that will oversee the group’s activities.
(Note:  Aglow Generations Groups for men may also be formed.  Attendees of either group may be mixed gender, but leadership needs to be either all male or all female)
    • One serves as leader, with one or two co-leaders.
    • Because one of the ways God has always used the Aglow ministry is to introduce women to the person of the Holy Spirit and His power, it is important that the leaders are filled with the Holy Spirit and speak in tongues.
    • The responsibilities of the group should be divided between each leader.
    • Encourage members to be active by giving them ownership in your group as they start regularly attending.
  • Complete the Aglow Generation’s Leadership Form
    • Each Generations leader should carefully read all the pages in the Generations Groups section before answering the questions in the Leadership Form.
    • Choose a male Pastor or Christian layman and have him complete the appropriate area on the form.
    • We want to encourage you to connect with other Aglow groups in order for the generations to walk hand in hand.  If there are no groups in your area, contact Evangeline and she will put you in touch with an Aglow leader.
    • Once your affiliation/charter is issued, we will send your group information to your area team, and the Generations Regional Coordinator in your Region if in the U.S, or to your Aglow National Leadership and Generations National Coordinator.
  • The role of an Aglow Generations Advisor: An Advisor is a male pastor or Christian layman who:
    • Knows you and your character.
    • Has spiritual maturity and can give you insight when needed.
    • Provides perspective and advice on questions the group may have on things such as doctrinal issues, or difficult problems in the group.
    • Is available to advise, not lead the Generations Group.
    • Appreciates that Aglow is interdenominational
    • May serve more than one Generations Group, if necessary.
    • May be called upon to counsel women referred by the leader(s).
    • Reviews and signs the Aglow Generations leadership form(s).
  • Generations Group Leadership Accountability
    • If your region or nation has a Generations Regional/National Coordinator, you should communicate with her.  If there is not yet a Generations leader in your Region or Nation, then you will communicate with your Regional or National leadership. In addition, in the US, groups will communicate with their area team.
    • If your country does not have a national Aglow leader, you should contact Worldwide Fellowships - International directly at:
      Aglow International,
      P. O. Box 1749
      Edmonds, Washington 98020, USA

    • It is very important that you maintain communication with your Generations Coordinator, Regional Director, Area Team or National Leadership, or Evangeline Weiner, updating them in a timely manner of your activities, successes and any problems you may be experiencing.  This gives you prayer support and a mature, understanding friend to walk through the joys and struggles of leadership with you.
  • Financial Guidelines
    • Upon affiliation in the U.S., you will receive an Employee Identification Number (EIN) to open a bank account for your funds.  If no funds are collected, no account is needed.
    • If you open a bank account, you will be responsible to provide a financial statement each year to your U.S. Regional Director.
    • While your personal tithe belongs to your local church, we ask that US groups’ collective tithe be sent to the Worldwide Headquarters to help further the work of the ministry around the world.
    • For Generations groups outside the US, please send your tithes to your next level of leadership to further the work of the ministry in your nation.
